Legado represents a tribute by Fernando Guedes and his team to the best that the Douro has, a simple tribute to Sogrape's roots. The return to where it all started 75 years ago, the starting point of a dream that continues to project itself into the future.
The 2012 viticultural year was characterized by a winter with very low temperatures and practically zero rainfall, followed by a drier and warmer spring than the respective averages, except for the month of April, which was particularly rainy. The end of maturation, in August and September, was also particularly dry and hot, which allowed for a very balanced maturation, resulting in excellent quality grapes, which resulted in magnificent wines.

| Vinification | Legado was vinified in the special line of Adega da Quinta da Leda, benefiting from refined technology. After gentle crushing and total destemming, the grapes were sent to stainless steel vats and/or presses with robots, where maceration and alcoholic fermentation took place. A long and gentle maceration was also carried out to achieve superior aromatic and polyphenolic extraction. At the end, and at the right time for each variety/batch, the wine was incubated and its masses pressed, with the wine resulting from pressing being kept apart from the tear wine. |
| Test Results | It has a deep ruby color. Its aroma has excellent complexity, with strong minerality, aromas of spices in cinnamon, ginger and pepper, balsamic in cedar and tobacco box. They complement bushy notes, some salinity and excellent quality wood notes in perfect integration. In the mouth it is elegant, but powerful, with a remarkable freshness, combined with high quality tannins, silky and very well integrated, endowing this wine with great harmony and strong personality. The finish is extremely persistent, complex and harmonious. |
| Gastronomy | Excellent accompaniment to strong dishes, such as rib rice marinated in wine lees, stewed partridges and other types of game. |
